Fee Based Activities Take a wildlife tour and learn about the animals, birds and habitat on a section of the 9,000-acre Flying A Ranch. Try bass fishing from a bass boat on their 14-acre lake. Hunting is also offered at the Flying A, with a variety of native and exotic species available. For more information on hunting please visit www.flyingaranch.net. These activities should be scheduled in advance through the lodge office and are not available at all times. A 50% deposit on fee-based activities must be made prior to your arrival. We also have access to a professional photographer, Karen Kilfeather, who is available to take you on a guided photography tour on the ranch. She is able to accommodate groups up to 5 people. Karen will take participants to several locations on the ranch that offer different habitat and animals for photographing. Karen has worked as a freelance photographer for 27 years with different environmental and Government agencies providing custom photographic support for research projects, consulting to private landowners for eco-tourism opportunities and workshops on nature photography. Her work has been in Nature Photography magazine, Texas Monthly, Western Wildlands, The Washingtonian and various publications for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Forest Service and US State Department. Karen’s full resume can be found here. Because Karen travels a great deal, this activity should be planned well in advance and spring is the best time of year with wildflowers blooming.
